Welcome Brothers

Join our community of Businessmen in Christ

1 Chronicles 29:11 Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all.

Thank you for showing an interest in Businessmen in Christ. We would like to extend an invitation for you to come to one of our meetings. We are open to all those men who would like to live a life that exemplifies Christ in the business world. You are welcome to join a meeting and get to know us. We meet the last Saturday of each month at 8am, at Smithtown Gospel Tabernacle. We will send further information to you as we draw closer to that date via email.

MISSION STATEMENT:

Our purpose is to create an atmosphere where business owners are able to come together and share the unique trials and responsibilities that we face as Christian businessmen. With the goal in mind of being a light and a witness for Christ in the marketplace, we come together to encourage and strengthen one another through prayer, testimony, and the Word of God.

In general the meetings will be held once a month and run for approx. 1 ½ hours.
We begin with an opening prayer then the meeting leader will provide one song of worship before he starts.
The meeting leader will then share for approx. 20 to 30 minutes.
Two scripture references shall be contained in the presentation.
There will be approx. 20 to 30 minutes of open discussion.
We will close with 15 to 20 minutes of prayer.

Look forward to seeing you,
Bruce, Lou and Greg

What Unites Us image
What unites people together? There has to be some common experience, some common ground, some common interest that brings them together. They relate to each other on a deeper level. They share something that unless you have experienced it yourself, you do not quite relate to.

It is no secret what has brought us together as a group of businessmen. We all share a personal experience that has changed the course of our lives and altered our perspective of the world forever. I think that an illustration from the “Miracle on the Hudson” will help to clarify the point I want to get across.

On January 15, 2009 US Airways flight 1549 took off from LaGuardia Airport in NY with 155 people aboard. Minutes later the plane was forced to make an emergency landing on the Hudson River. All the people on board that aircraft survived and it became known as the “Miracle on the Hudson”. Below are some excerpts taken from an article written by Ed Pilkington for The Guardian; titled “Survivors of the Hudson River Plane Crash”

In the weeks following the crash, the survivors were drawn to one another. They call themselves "1549ers", and feel as if they are members of a rare club – only they can understand the extreme trauma that they have been through.
Another social tick emerged. So many survivors felt that their lives had begun anew, almost as if they had been born again, that they enshrined the thought in a ritual. When a passenger's birthday came up, they would hold a party and call it their "first", as in their first birthday since the crash.

Those of us who are members of “Businessmen in Christ” (BMC), call ourselves “born again” Christians. This term is not one that we have made up. Jesus first used the term in a dialogue He had with a Jewish Rabbi; it is recorded in the Gospel of John chapter 3, verse 3. We identify with this term, because just like the survivors of “Miracle on the Hudson” we too have encountered a life changing experience. Each one of us has a unique story to tell on how we came to believe that this man from Galilee, Jesus Christ, was who He claimed to be- God’s Savior to the world. The Bible says it this way in the same Gospel of John 1:12: “But as many as have receive Him (Jesus Christ), to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name”.

Do you have to be a “Born Again” Christian to attend one of our meetings- No, you do not have to be. We welcome any businessman, whether you are an owner, or retired, or even just interested in the business world and want to see what a Christian perspective on business is about; you are welcome to attend our meetings. You can check the events page to find out where you can attend a meeting. If you have any questions about us, or about what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ; please feel free to contact us. We would be glad to discuss with you about your spiritual journey and about our group. Look forward to hearing from you.
